Biosafety
Our technical know-how ensures maximum security
Protection against biological risks and threats has to be improved on national as well as international level. This especially applies to the enormous advances in biotechnology in recent years as well as future developments in this field. One of the most important elements of biosafety is the ability to provide evidence of pathogens that, either used deliberately or occurring naturally, could lead to a bio incident (epidemic, bio terror). Indisputably, a demand exists in civilian and military areas for suitably equipped laboratories in which highly pathogenic microorganisms may be safely utilised.Design and construction of such biosafety laboratories with bio-safety level 2-4 (BSL4: microorganisms with mostly lethal effect) place great demands on the abilities of the engineers. We, however, possess the necessary know-how and experience as building services engineers specialised in cleanroom technology. This is demonstrated, for example, in our project design of the Spiez laboratory in Switzerland - BSL 2-4 (there are only 15 BLS4-laboratories worldwide), or our consultant mandate at the construction of the Novartis Institute for Tropical Diseases in Singapore - BSL3.
